Gao Yang was worried about his family and the life they had left behind even as the car drove away from their well-known homes and farms. His heart hurt for her. The thought of returning to his garlic fields, where the earthy smell and hard labor always brought him calm, troubled him. His mind was racing with stress, sore for the comfort of home and the hope that somehow everything would turn out okay again.

Chapter 2: Prison Life

The location where Gao Yang and his aunt were brought was quite frightful when they got there.
